La mostra, a cura di Alberto Mattia Martini, comprende opere di artisti provenienti da più di dieci paesi diversi e da differenti background culturali.
La mostra rientra nella rassegna L’IMMAGINE DEL SUONO giunta alla sua quarta edizione, promossa dal Comune di Lucca e coordinata da ArtLab. La rassegna ha come scopo quello di mettere in evidenza le strette relazioni fra arti visive e arti sonore, la sinergia fra le varie discipline espressive e le varie iconografie nel panorama contemporaneo. L’overview di artisti presentati fanno della figurazione la base del loro lavoro e si ricongiungono alla scena underground internazionale della musica e del fumetto. Il titolo, Go with the Flow, è un tributo al gruppo Queen of the Stone Age e al loro LP di successo Songs for the Deaf, che li lanciò nella scena musicale mondiale all’inizio degli anni 2000.
Idealmente la mostra scatta un frame sulla scena artistica contemporanea internazionale, senza avere la pretesa di storicizzare o applicare un’etichetta a questo gruppo di artisti.
Nonostante un background culturale in origine veramente differenziato (dalla Cambogia al Giappone, dall’Italia alla Lettonia, da Taiwan a Seul), molti di loro decidono di trasferirsi nelle principali capitali artistiche del momento: Los Angeles, Berlino o New York. La delocalizzazione influisce notevolmente sulla loro produzione artistica, creando un mush-up estremamente interessante che riflette il melting-pot culturale in cui viviamo.
The international goup show, curated by Alberto Mattia Martini, will include a range of artists from different backgrounds and from more than ten different Countries.
The show is part of the summer programme of events L’IMMAGINE DEL SUONO organized by the Municipality of Lucca and Artlab.
The main task of the programme is to highlight the tight connection between visual and musical arts, the synergy between the different creative fields involved and the several iconography of the contemporary artistic background.
The selected group of visual artists is united by the international underground scenario of music and comics. The title, Go with the Flow, is a tribute to the band Queen of the Stone Age, and specifically to the famous LP Songs for the Deaf of the Early 2000, which pumped them to the international music scene.
The exhibition is a frame shot on the international contemporary art scene, without the aim of labelling these artists with a common name of artistic movement.
Although a original various cultural background (from Cambodia to Japan, from Italy to Latvia, from Taiwan to Seul), most part of them moved to the main artistic cities at present: Los Angeles, Berin or New York. The delocalization has influenced their artistic production, creating an interesting mush-up which is reflecting the cultural melting-pot we live in.
