Durante una breve intervista (vedi http://lastanzaprivatadellarte.blogspot.it/2014/02/tra-un-battito-di-ciglia-e-laltro.html) che le feci qualche tempo fa, Gabriela Butti, ci anticipava l'esperienza, che avrebbe vissuto di lì a poco, di una residenza d'artista all'estero, in oriente. Ora si raccolgono i frutti: una mostra personale a Singapore presso Grey Projects (www.greyprojects.org).

Grey Projects presents Facing Emptiness, a studio exhibition by our artist-in-residence, Gabriela Butti.
Hailing from Como, Italy, Gabriela creates her works by puncturing holes in papers. When backlit, the perforations come alive to reveal visually stunning images that look like film stills on paper. Continuing on the theme of people and portraits, Gabriela now turns her attention to Singapore - allowing the new sights, sounds and smells to influence her creations during her month-long stay with Grey Projects.
A reception with the artist will be held on 26 March 2014, 6pm - 8pm.
Facing Emptiness will be on view until 31 March 2014. Please write to nicole@greyprojects.org to make an appointment for guided viewings by the artist, as well as viewings outside of our gallery hours (Wed - Fri, 1- 7pm; Sat, 1- 6pm).

Born in Italy in 1985, Gabriela graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, in Milan. Her artworks consist of patterned repetitions of perforations on paper, arranged in such a way as to paint gradients and strong lines. These lines convey form and depth in an innate, yet rigorous aesthetic. Influenced by everyone and everything, Gabriella seeks to grow her talent by incorporating new media, new ideas, and old techniques in innovative and meaningful artworks.
